Seriously about to try building this same thing. I'm glad I found this video. I watched a ton of other videos and all of them have fancy tools, a billion clamps, etc. Now I see it's possible without having all of that stuff. Nice job!

What kind of hand tools can you use to cut this? Something kind of like a sharp box cutter? What kind of wood is this how thick and what are the dimensions? Are you using a nail gun? Do you think this would work to make a bird condo with like 20 nests of cubbys just cut holes in it for their doorway and nail it to a pole or something. Thank you for your response.

One day the birds will be VERY surprised when the wood swells or shrinks and the trap door opens and drops them on their heads. 😮. Maybe come up with a safer closure for the door. Thanks for the belt sander idea where you clamped it to a bench - that’s awesome. I also like the decorative trim idea - very nice. Personally I would have used the brad nails instead of the flat head nails on the body. Take care.

Good job. Feller viewers make sure you drill the hole on top of the front birdhouse wall, because predators can fish out chiks if they can reach it with paws. For house cats it's easy Spring snack.

plan is perfect for a smple tray feeder. make 2) simple adjustments and the tray will be perfect. Use a solid wood, not plywood. i did once and learned my lesson because it will split. by the end of the season. the elements will destroy it, 2) seal it if you seal it and still use plywood you might just get 3-4 yrs out of it. which is what i got out of mine befor it started spiltting apart, & 3) don't use a thin cotton rope. it wasn't made to stay out in the elements either. use a poly rope or better yet a chain it will last longer.

What did you do with unused cut lumber? Were they put to waste? Just asking, coz i wondered why you did not cut in a way you can still use the end part of your bench.

Great job! That will be a great workbench. Inexpensive and easy to maintain. While some people may say the pune 2x4 is soft and will be easy to damage. I say it is entirely durable for a work bench. Plus if the other people want to pay big bucks for a hardwood, I say go ahead and as soon as you hit it with your any type of tool or object; the expensive Hardwood tabletop will also be dented. So they spent a lot of money and ended up with the same result as an inexpensive tabletop that you made.
